George John Landis

     George John Landis During a peaceful prayer, George passed away at the young age of 58, after fighting a courageous battle with multiple system atrophy.

Born in Oakland to Helen ("Nitsa") and the late John Landis (Lalantonis). George is survived by his "honey" Adrienne, wife of 26 years.  Nikko. "Theo Gogo" to Anisa and Demi Woods. "Koumbaro" to John and Angel Victor. Godfather to Greg Koumarianos and a true friend to many. Deputy Landis, also known as the "the King," retired after 20 years of service with the San Francisco Sheriff's department. Active member of Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Oakland.
 

He will be forever missed by his children Sarah, Georgie, Alyssa, Rick and his wife Danielle Valdez, Athena and her husband Frank Cosio. "Poppa" to Billy, Marissa, Victoria, Stephen, Domenic and Alexa. "Brother George" to Anastasia and her husband Doug Chase, Stephanie and Jim. "Uncle George" to John and Maria Woods, Mike Woods, Eleni and Matt Frediani, Nicole and Stephen Gustafsson and

George is remembered as an avid fisherman and passionate chef for his church youth camp and Greek Festival. He will be missed for always cooking the "ultimate" barbeque for his family and friends. Trisagion Service, Tue., August 28th, 7:30pm at the Ascension Greek Or- thodox Cathedral, 4700 Lincoln Ave., Oakland. Funeral Service, Wed., August 29th, 11:00am also at the Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Ascension Summer Camp Program or Parkinson's Disease Clinic and Research Center at UCSF. (415) 476-9276
