AB 2754 passed the Assembly and the Senate, was approved by the Governor, and chaptered into law.  This new law adds methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) skin infection as an additional condition that is presumed to be work-related for safety members employed by counties, making them eligible for work-related disability retirement benefits, and removes the existing five years of service eligibility for industrial disability retirement currently required in the '37 Act for injuries caused by blood-borne pathogens.  The bottom line:  Officers will be covered if they contract MRSA.
